The risk takers and idiots are what created these rules though. I know that my pattern is totally random though. I was a self employed programmer for over a decade and if I woke up early in the morning after a nice long rest, I would then start working during first shift. Then I would sleep at night. As days go on I find myself waking up a little later, then I would wake up at 5PM and work all night. So I just worked after I had slept no matter what time it was. Seems like most people go to bed at 9pm and wake up at 5 am every day like robots but I can't do that.Working Class Patriot Thanks this.

Two words - Tyson shipper
If you picked up at Tyson you would know exactly what I am talking about.

If you read the reg's. it is not MANDITORY to take a restart. It IS an option. That you DONOT have to use.

I have loaded poultry meal at Tyson with hopper bottom . Fifth truck in line and it takes an hour to load each truck . Forget sleeping because they expect you to keep moving in line as trucks leave .
Unloading at Purina in Nashville can be as bad . Some loads can take over an hour to unload ( poultry meal or mbm loaded hot , peanut or cotton hulls ) . If a product they need more than what you have comes in behind you they move it ahead in line .
Dispatchers know this and don't expect miracles . -
EXACTLY. But, a very large chunk of the drivers out here today do not know how to run/log without a reset. THAT is the true problem. Too many are affraid to learn how to run/log off the 70/8 rule, which still exists. Those who know how too will be the ones who survive and benefit. The megas know they will feel the pinch with their "young" fleets. I myself have worked it to a benefit, knowing how to run/log on the 70/8 rule and using the recap. Let alone, a more profitable one at that. Too many dont want to make education as a key to success. Be safe out there drivers.

I imagine there are going to be a lot of threads here in a few weeks from people getting nabbed for violations with the new rules.
BTW, it's 2 periods between 1:00 AM and 5:00 AM.
