Not only that, but like I said: if the HOS regs were removed you would become a slave and not have the option to stop when you wanted. That 6 day coast to coast trip you used to have would now be expected to be done in 2 1/2 days.

The key here is to know just as much or more than DOT....I carry the Large "Greenbook"....And DOT and I have cracked that tome several times over to prove I did nothing wrong.......

Ok, fine ... then who says 30 minutes is adequate? Why not an hour? We live in a nation where quality of work is rewarded. We don't live in a slave-labor state where we are all doing the same job, at the same time, for the same wage. What you are describing means nobody is any better than the next guy. The kid just graduating CDL school has the same expected skill level as the guy driving 20 years. The guy driving 20 years expects to be treated the same as the new kid. I don't know where you're living, but it's not anywhere near me and I'm glad I don't live in a nation where hard work is NOT rewarded ... where being superior to others is NOT rewarded.

Look at the typical illegal immigrant working in the hot fields. They fall under no government control or regulations. Their employer can work them as hard or as little as they want, and pay them peanuts. But last I checked they were fighting hard to PUT themselves in these jobs and in these life positions and they were not being "worked like slaves" ... why? because their work ethic will be rewarded and an employer realizes their are certain free-market and competition realities.

Many of us have the b@!!$ to stand up for ourselves but many do not. For instance, my ex teammate; dispatch would give us a 600 mile run to do in 9hrs, he would never say anything to them and give them the ETA they wanted to hear... Not me. As soon as I found out it was a miracle run, I would write over the Qualcomm that we would not be able to make it on time... My ex teammate used to let dispatch stress him out and he paid with a few incidents. Many rookies want to do a good job even when its impossible and will feel pressured to pushing themselves into log violations, mainly because most of them think its either do what my boss says (in their mind, the dispatcher) or get fired ....

I said NOTHING of this nature. Being new doesn't mean you should be forced to work non-stop.

    Still not required.

You can still run the recap to get the hours. You have to elect to take the option of the 34.

What you're going to see is horrible traffic and increased accidents because all of the drivers who used to sleep during the day and drive at night are no longer going to have the luxury of doing that. It's going to be worse and hopefully these idiots will get it through their dense skulls that this was an extremely bad idea.
