    That's total hours. Not 168 on duty hours. 168 hours / 7 = 24 hours.

Doesn't bother me...I'm an O/O......The only one who pushes me is me.....I could care less what companies may or may not do for their drivers......

You wouldn't survive as a O/O if company drivers can do your trips in half the time, for less $$$. Hence why the OOIDA has been pushing for HOS regs since day 1. O/O's would not be able to compete with the mega's. The mega's would put them out of business.

I could run and never ever have to take a reset.......As long as I don't go over hours and run more than 8 days straight....

Btw...You can only take one reset every 168 hours period....What if you ran two days...And then sat for a day and half and then ran two more days and sat....DOT says you can only have one reset period in that time......

Do they not realize if you run Flat-bed from WED to WED....Say at a 2000 mile Two-point run...You won't have any time to drop at point "D"?......

This HOS deal is a "One Size Fits All" and it isn't....

FB as an example...Are the "Bankers" of trucking 90% of our loads are P/U or dropped are not on the weekends like Van or Reefer....

What about OD OP's...They're gonna get hosed too...Many Jurisdictions like NM and AZ won't allow for weekend travel.... So they run and sit...Run and sit.....

What difference does it make if you run two days and take two days off?.......Then repeat that deal?...You're getting the same amount of rest.....

The problem is....DOT, The Teamsters, and Public Citizen and the like...All think trucking should be a "9-5 Mon-Fri" deal.......

    It never was...It's 24/7/365......

I agree. I have went up to get a trailer. Logged up and then the whole midwest comes down with a major snowstorm. Why drive. Sit for day and half and another 34. Now, nothing but a recap.

But, I still was rested. It makes no sense to me except a new way for a DOT officer to look for violations.

The scenario I listed about the snow storm and the DOT officer later in the week was questioning whether I was running and I had motel receipts for the 2 nights.

    REVENUE, REVENUE.

There is no requirement for a reset. It's completely optional.

Hence the reason I said look for the word "May" above...

You used the absolute "require" in one sentence. A better word might be 'allow'.

It's not political. If you're going to use a word like require for something that's not it confuses things.
