how does a completely independent OO go about keeping up with all the permits and certifications required for each state? the company permit books managed by entire staff sections are 200 pages, and they are still consistently lacking in various ways (colorado, oregon).

 

Its not easy...Its a lot of work...BUT, Once you Master the responsibility of a n independent trucker..It Opens so many doors.

 

Probably easier as you won't run all 48.
Pick a lane you like and run it... consistently.
