I've read a lot of post about this being the slow season so I was wondering is there a time of year that is typically considered the busy season?

A lot depends on the type of freight too. While reefers slow down, they still maintain decent loads during the slow months.. People don't slow down eating and a lot of stuff is shipped in reefers to keep the freight from freezing.

Flatbedding usually slacks off during the winter, with construction slowing down during that time.

Usually after march and it slows down around september for some freight companies. Fedex got slow around september along with Conway but Central transport kept me working all year around and was never slow. I think it mainly depends on the area and terminal manager.... if the terminal manager hires more drivers than they actually need then during the cold season it will get slow for a new driver.

depends on the freight, I haul containers, our slow times vary. Usually late Feb., Mar. and April are slow. Mid-May til mid-june gets busy, then slow in July and early August, then starts to ramp up. Oct. til mid Jan. can be super busy.

I do chemicals and cans...... Cans bottomed out at Halloween but are starting back up. Domestics have leveled to slow until the 1st. and new budgets.

We are told that the "books" are overflowing with work next month and to " be ready". Supposed to be a record month in cans. ( ISO tanks )

I was getting ready to ask about the same question so I'm glad I saw this thread.

So since this is allready started I have a question for you drivers who have been doing this for a few years, is the freight picking up or seem better for you now this year than it was a couple years ago, when everything started to go to s--t , or is it worse now with the economy still being the way it is?

I ask this because it seems like you drivers would see it first hand if freight is moving better or not or is the economy still taking a nose dive.
