i would only reccomend staying away from fla, tough competition for jobs down there.

cement or dump truck job shouldn't be any harder than getting a job with a good trucking company. otr is always tempting to people because they always NEED drivers. that is the only reason they are hiring. i would rather wait for a better local job rather than go otr....

Found anything yet? I don't know what part of michigan you're interested in, but Werner isnt *that* bad and will hire out of michigan, as long as you are on or south of the I-94 corridor (for otr/regional), but if you live within an hour of detroit they'll try to get you on "zone 7". DO NOT ACCEPT A ZONE 7 POSITION, EVERRRRR. It's a canadian border crossing run and nobody makes money on it. You can usually meet these drivers at the Detroiter truck stop or Milton Ontario's Truck Town Terminals or the Fifth Wheel in Milton. And werner does not hire out of michigan on regional or otr that often. And most companies do not hire out of michigan.

If you get a year experience in and wanna yank tankers, Quality Carriers (QC) is based out of Tampa.....so they cant really give you that excuse of not hiring in florida. hehehe...

If you're near lakeland, werner would probably hire you out of florida. They have a "terminal" there. Not sure why it's considered a terminal instead of a drop yard....

However, Michigan is fullll of small trucking companies. As an example, Hill Enterprises (NOT Hill Bros) out of Scottdale, MI does not have a formal experience requirement. They require you to...be able to read a map. Oh, and drive. I don't think they train students though.

Ralph Moyl out of Mattawan, MI only hires people who live within an hour of Mattawan, but they require 6 months..and are flexible as long as you have atleast 5....6 months with a bottom feeder is not that bad of a deal if you have to....

Then theres pretty much any beer warehouse anywhere...
