I can't find anything under 6,000 in my city, willing to move anywhere in the country for a month just to get my CDL, do any of you know of any affordable schools?

EVERY school can find a place to lend you the money for school. 50% of trucking companies offer Tuition Reimbursement for new drivers. Your school loan payment may be a different amount than the company's TR payment. You are still responsible for paying the school loan. That's how I paid for my school. I paid $3500 almost 30 years ago. Decide where to work before you decide which school to attend. Some trucking companies have their own "free school". Some trucking companies only take newbies from certain schools. No sense paying for a school your company you want to work for won't accept.

The only downside to community college and vocation training schools is they often have a waiting-list. For-profit CDL schools seldom require a wait more than a week or a month if they are crowded. Also, like @Chinatown mentioned, WOIA through the state unemployment office could be free if you are unemployed or under employed. Free money is a real bargain. It think WOIA may even pay for the medical exam and DMV fees.

Youre asking the wrong question......instead of asking affordable (cheap) ask which school is most valuable. CDL training isn't cheap. Trucks are expensive as hell to operate.....especially with students tearing them up. Instructors are ridiculously expensive. A truck driver qualified enough to be a good instructor knows their value. Trucking companies are paying them $90 to $100k a year right now......so schools have to come up with the cash to be competitive.

If you're shopping for the cheapest school, you're also shopping for the cheapest product.
