I couldn't tell you.
The last Detriots Ive run is back in 2001 with the series 60 505 to 515 hp+
I'm not even sure if Detroit still allow these engines you speak of to have the same... behavior or habits of the ones Ive run.
All else aside, the more horse you have on hand, the less work you need to move that weight. And use less fuel. Ive been on landfills full up twice with a 18 wheeler in my life time. Frankly it's something I really appreciated a big horse Detroit for that work. Anything less I would not have made it up.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Thanks one of them have 450hp and the other has 435hp

All my knowledge is on the 12.7 series 60 engines but what I do know about the dd15 is that the rebuild in frame kits are ridiculously expensive compared to even ISX.
OldeSkool and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
The DD engine were the first built with all the emission in mind. They they are good engines. iSX had that problem with not getting enough oil to top of engine and taking out the cam shafts and stuff very expensive and Cummins would never admit it was a design flaw or to much soot in the oil clogging up the engine.
Detroit seems to have trouble with the emission OneBox DOC filters going out and they can't be replaced. You have to replace the whole emission box for $12,000 they seem to go bad around 650,000 miles.
Today they talk about cleaning the emission system at 250,000 miles vs waiting till everything goes wrong because the sensors get clogged up with soot and stop feeding the computers good info.BackwoodsGA, x1Heavy and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
Dorothy soot cleaner for ISX that are working on one for DD also

My 2017 Freightliner acting up last night. It supposed to do automatic parked regens when sitting the weekend at truck stop. Had fault codes for air pressure difference from out side and the intake manifold or something. It would not Regen. Then computers say manual regen. No problem I can push the button. It still wouldn't Regen.
Cazy computer had same fault long time before (spn 3563 fmi 10) maybe I can get company to change the two sensor or something. The computers tried bring the turbo psi all the way up to 21psi. It would not Regen. It would give up after 5 minutes. It finally worked in the morning never really had that problem before when it asked for manual Regan and it would not respond. I'm guessing the air pressure difference from outside and inside the manifold was that start of the problem. Since that was the first fault code. 298,000 miles on truck

Just FYI if you check out gliders on truck paper you can get a fairly new and nice Freightliner day cab with no emissions for around $40-50k. I would go that route but whatever you prefer.
