ESPECIALLY if the bad guy's on fire !!!!!!
Sorry Ol Buddy - couldn't resist ....... but that IS a valid point. Had an ex-Army buddy of mine used to teach civies (moonlighting) how to use everyday items as weapons. That was one of 'em.

Since this old thread is still active and I just discovered the post I quoted, I'll throw my 2 cents in. I stopped at that place many years ago and bought some fuel. As I was paying for the fuel I asked the lady if the restaurant was open and she said "sure, what would you like?" It was obvious that I was the only customer in the place when she told me to have a seat anywhere I liked and the food would be out shortly. Sure enough in a few minutes she came out of the kitchen, put my food on the table and pulled up a chair. Over the next hour or so I learned everything about her life. Her husband worked on a ranch waaaay out in the boonies and she was totally starved for conversation because they didn't really have any neighbors and he usually worked from daylight to dark. Interesting visit, she was the fuel desk attendant, cook, waitress, cashier and entertainment all in one package. I think I was most likely the only other human for miles around at the moment.
I don't remember the place looking like a horror movie or anything like that but would imagine it's very quite at night with just the coyotes to sing one to sleep.Speedloader Thanks this. -
How about the big d travel center in Irving Texas. It seems a little sketchy to me?

Is the walt whitman in philly still open? Never been there, just looked on google maps to see where it was located and it said it was closed.

The unsafe truck stops are the ones where you dont mind you own business, and the safest truck stops are the ones where you do mind your own business.

Good? Bosselman's in Grand Island, Loves at exit 13 in Fernwood, MS, Pilot at exit 283 on I 57 in Gilman, IL, Flying J at Utica, IL, Love's on I 94 in Marshall, MI there a few others I frequent, but I can't think of them off the top of my head.
Bad? I live close to Gary, so I don't stop there, but I still wouldn't anyway. In fact, I go out of the area to fuel, so that should tell you something. Also want to reiterate about the twins in West Memphis - I would deliberately delay fueling until I got to the Love's at Batesville, MS to fuel. It's sad to think there are more bad ones than good ones these days, but it's part of the job. You just find a good one and go there until it starts getting bad, and then you find another new one. -
Never had problems in W.Memphis or Gary.

This is one of the best petros out there. I stop here a lot and parked at the furthest corner from the building and was never worried. It is very safe and clean.
