It was always rumored that Rube's TS in Jersey City was mob connected. And it was a dump ! I was talking to another driver in the parking lot one day when I said "Look at that 'possum crossing the lot". He laughed at me and said that's no possum,it's a rat. They had old containers around the perimeter of the lot that you backed your trailer into so nobody could get in it.I never had the nerve to stay there over night. I was in the little greasy spoon they had there drinking coffee.I saw the cook drop an empty plate in the dirty floor, pick it up and put food on it.Needless to say I never ate there. Now I last drove over road in 1992.What a lot of people don't realize is we didn't have the communication you have today. Cell phones were just coming on the market and you had to use payphones to call your dispatcher. Most of the places I delivered to in the NYC area weren't driver friendly and you left as soon as you were unloaded. You didn't dare use the payphones on the sidewalk out of personal safety. So that's how you ended up at places like Rubes.
I saw Vince Lombardi's Plaza mentioned on here.Had a bad experience there. Now I don't care what gay people do in their private life as long as they leave me alone.Yep you guessed it.I got hit on there by a male hooker at 10 am in the morning ! I never wanted to stop there after that.I was just starting to that over that when I stopped in Atlanta one morning to use the phone. As soon as I got out of the truck here came a lot lizard trying to do business. I looked at her/him and noticed IT was wearing a wig and I could see whiskers on IT'S face. So I asked, are you a man or a woman? IT told me it was a woman trapped in a man's body! You folks should be very thankful for the wireless communications you have today for sure ! -
Leaving Amarillo on I40 and heading west. Cross the New Mexico border and you will see signs for a truck stop with Indian food on the north side. Now the Indian food should be a warning sign. I stopped there once because I am partial to Indian food. It is the most disgusting filthy s%%%thole I have ever seen. The food was awful and the parking lot was a collection of giant holes. I am cured of Indian run truckstops and I swerve them and their hotels whenever possible. I noticed a distinct pattern.

The only redeeming thing I like about this truck stop is that pack of stray dogs that can be seen running around sometimes. I like their company. Otherwise, not worth stopping. -

When he said "Indian" run truckstop I was thinking he meant Native American due to the fact that there is a tribal truck stop across the border the other way.
I've seen the billboards for the one he is talking about with the Indian food. You are right. It is in San Jon and it is called "Taste of India".
Which brings me to ponder...maybe it's me, but I cannot imagine eating Indian food and then sitting in a truck for hours afterwards. Just seems like a rough combination to me.
