When I say Indian I don't mean North American Indian / Native American I mean Indians form India complete with giant bandages wrapped around their heads. I know Speedys and fuel there whenever possible. The fuel is cheap, there is a good laundry but the showers are not that great. I won't eat there, too greasy.

So no not Arizona I40 - TX / NM I40. Well before you get to Tucumcari. Absolutely filthy and disgusting. They are not plowing anything back in just milking the truckers for what they can get.
Friend of mine went into another one in Texas with a giant parking lot in the pm. He wanted to take a nap. Told him to go or pay a parking fee!! In the middle of the desert?? Only interested in getting something for nothing and using the trucking community to do it.

Kind of on that subject there is a run down Valero on I35w in Fort Worth. Just as you cross I820 going south.
This dope took my money for super extra expensive fuel then wanted to charge me for a shower, I refused and went back to truck to take a nap. Next thing I had a guy with a clipboard at my window wanted money to park. I explained I had just dropped $400 on fuel and he said it didn't matter you had to pay to park. The place is filthy and I am astonished that people actually pay to park there but they do. I have seen the stickers in the windows. What a racket!!

If it's the place I am thinking about, I have been there UNFORTUNATLY. DONT GO HERE! A place called Dhillins what a dump! We made a rest stop there and I refused to use the bathroom. I am female and would have rather used a bush.(I am not that type of person)
The cashier yelled at me because I didn't buy anything. I told him what I thought of his place.
There is a native truck stop a mile east of there. Clean friendly and worth the wait.

They are building a new Dhillon's there. The whole place will be brand new. And even though it's a dump, authentic Indian food and I've never had a problem all the times I've been there. Free wifi too. I always stop.

    Hiya,

This thread is long and dates back a few years, so if this has been mentioned previously, I am sorry.

My husband is new in his trucking career and is headed west to Reno, NV via I-80... we are not familiar at all with too many areas away from the East Coast.

Can anyone give me a heads up on some of the safest/bigger truck stops that ya recommend... and the safest place in the Reno area in case he gets there early. I know whether or not he can hit them depends on his drive time and location, etc... I just want to have some information on hand to offer him when he calls.

If you know of a specific site that gives safety information, I will take that too. Right now I am looking at the truck master fuel finder website to help with truck stops and exit numbers... but it doesn't tell me how safe the areas are.

Any and all info is super appreciated!!! Thanks y'all

There's a Love's and a Pilot in Fernley and a TA and a Petro in Sparks... the Petro is biggest. I'd judge all to be "safe".

The best stop I have ever been to is on I-55 in Illinois. Exit 220 Love's. Always clean. Always friendly staff. They also treat drivers better than 4wheeler customers. If you're in the area I highly suggest putting this one on your stop list. Worst would be just outside of Chattanooga, south side when riding down I-65 I wish I could remember the exit all I know is it was a BP and it was terrible. Horrible pumps with no auto shut off. Filthy bathrooms, angry staff, dirt everywhere. Overall horrible place to be.

The safest spot for anyone will be where they end up parking. Be aware of your surroundings and limitations. If you don't feel safe - move on.

Thank ya! Yea totally agree that common sense comes into play more than anything... it is just nice to have a list of good places that others recommend for planning.

Dd you mean I-75? The interstates going through Chattanooga are I-24, I-75, and I-59
