There's enough work out there for everyone. Find your little niche in the market and make it work. Sitting on here arguing about all this makes no sense.

Not this driver. Not much gets under my skin. I want to hear a report back on how much or how little he is able to book some backhauls. Yeah I said backhaul. Backhaul. Backhaul. That's gonna start an argument lol.

I dont have a BACKHAUL comment or question but I do have a HAUL one.
Lets say i book a load and it pays $1000 going 400 miles. To calculate the fuel for that haul, do I just divide the miles by my trucks mile per gallon then multiply by how much fuel cost is?

I couldn't tell you because I never figure what fuel cost is on a load to load basis. It's useless info. Information overload. Doesn't matter what the fuel costs on any given load. You need to know is what fuel is costing you per mile. For me, burning the fuel alone driving up and down the highways, it runs around 60 cents a mile give or take.

Fuel mileage changes so much you'll never know load to load. I just figure want mpg average is times how much per gallon. I normally figure my cost per mile at $.48. Some times the actual is worse but normally better. For fun I keep track of my pay per mile but I'm paid by load so it's just information for me.

By your experience. Is it best to try booking a load off load boards on the day it needs to ship than doing it a day or two in advance. In other words does the brokers pay more when they see that time is running out

i have never dealt with brokers or load boards, i have always dealt with the shippers, less headache and you always get your money in 30 days.
