It just depends on what you do. If you venture into flatbed then into heavy haul you can make some darn good money especially if your a O/O

There's no such thing as a best company. It all depends on what you want & what they offer.

I have to agree with Doaz. There is no such thing as the best company. I can name the top few that many have said are the best; however, those companies may not work for you.

The top ones in my opinion based upon what I read here:

    Averitt (Both)
    Fed Ex (LTL)
    Conway (LTL)
    Wal-Mart
    South Eastern Freight Lines (LTL)
    Wilson Trucking (LTL)
    Epes
    Cypress

I am know there are others that I have forgot to list. Please excuse me for failing to do so.

Not just Flory-DUH brother! Seems like the requirements for a class D don't include sense or common sense! Even on the 2 lane backroads :( A couple wks ago I had a class-DUH driver swerve head-oh into my lane to avoid a dead skunk. Avoiding a DEAD skunk to tangle head on with a semi! SHEESH!

Yup. Everyone's the same in that they're just trying to earn some dough. Most good companies pay are competitive and similar to other good companies. Most bad companies you will hear about if you talk to other drivers enough. Just beware of cronic complainers they will shoot ANY company down for a bad experience, even if it was totally THEIR fault! Bottom line, its more about how the company is known for mutual respect and fair treatment, including how well they care for their equipment as well as their drivers that will find you a company you can be happy with for the balance of your career.

You will need to do your homework, researching all the companies mentioned in this forum, both good and bad, to arrive at your short list of which companies you should be talking to and which you should avoid. Each person is different and thier "best company" will dirrer from other persons.
