I’ve come to a conclusion that the OP is a broker trying to convince individuals that hauling “CHEAP” freight is profitable.

You sure bout that? A "Brand new" Detroit was cheaper then buying a good machined 3406E block, crank and have it over hauled? How much was the Detroit?

It was in a crate in Tulsa. A guy bought it for some piece of equipment or another, paid a deposit, then changed his mind. It sat in the warehouse for about 4 years collecting dust, until I found it. I paid a bit over 11k, for the crate, and it wasn’t just cheaper in terms of cash, it was also that I could get it done in a little over a day. So it saved me about 4 days of downtime. All the components I needed (ECM, motor mounts, A/C compressor, a different fuel pump because the one it had on it did not have the air compressor) were on the shelf at the Detroit shop Where the engine was. The Detroit was an option on that truck from the factory, so the whole swap was pretty straightforward.

I gotcha. Yeah the W900 definitely had Detroit 60 series in some of them as a factory option, but only about 2 out of 10 if that had them. Im not knocking a 60 series at all because I do like them. Ddec3 and 4 are my favorites.

You didn't mention what year the W900 was but if it was an accert model cat the series 60 was an upgrade.

It wouldn’t have been an acert. Not if it could have been ordered factory with a Detroit

It was a 1998 (I did mention it in a previous post)it had a 550 (I think) Series 60, 13 speed single over, and 3.08 rears, 86 inch Aerodyne Studio Sleeper. Had the diamond tuck leather interior (probably actually vinyl)
