ok thanks @mitrucker . Looks like you got plenty of experience under your belt. I will tell the recruiter Monday I am not interested in going further. Even if I have to pay CRE back for the DOT Med Physical.
I am convinced.
Gonna just get a local job at the BK an' appreciate the time I have with my dog.
Thanks.

Is there any way for you to get your license on your own instead of going the company sponsored training route?
Try contacting CFI and see what they have to say.Gamgee Thanks this. -
Paging @Chinatown, @RoadRooster
Chinatown Thanks this. -
No one wants to hire someone with no experience.
My dog rode back from WA with me in a 26 foot truck. Hated it. Nearly died from hyperventilating through the mountains. Granted there was no bunk - jus' the cab, but she was scared.(Even a bunk would not have made a difference.)
That truck was jus' too bouncy for her. We spent a night in that cab cuddled up together through a thunderstorm outside a hotel after a nightmare cross many states.
She is my best friend an' I have decided after listening to all of the horror stories here that I am jus' gonna get a minimum wage job with no insurance at a burger joint to spend the rest of her days with her. I bought an ol' farm house. Her retirement home. - She is a blutic coonhound. - Although she did VERY well in an apartment in a small rural city on the East Side of the Cascades. It was very dog friendly.
We never shoulda left WA. Long story.
I really appreciate all of the feedback here. It has helped to settle me down because I did so love to travel long distance OTR. It jus' ain't worth the torture you all are spelling out from the Dispatch. - Months away from home for nothing. I wanna be with my best friend.mitrucker Thanks this. -
You seem to be setting conditions on yourself that cause you to conclude CR England is your only option. That's probably not true, but if you have already signed a contract you are asking question too late to do you any good.
For the life of me I cannot understand why SO MANY questions from newsbies are of the "I just signed a contract with ABC and was wondering are they a good company?".
What would you think if someone said they were thinking about skydiving as a hobby and they hand jumped out of the airplane and wanted to know when do they had out parachutes and explain what to do on the way down?
Many drivers are able to enter trucking and do not have to stay away from home for months and earn very little pay. Some of them start with a job where they are home every day. To get those jobs you have to research before you sign a contract. After you sign the contract, do what the contract requires, and ignore everything else. Life is a contact sport.Last edited: Oct 6, 2019

Jus' asking 'cause I took up Boxing later in life as self defense and absolutely loved it.
This is someone who had aversion to contact sports.
Your wording just peeked my interest because I learned a lot from my Boxing Instructor.
As for "signing a contract." It was over the phone. They paid for the Med Physical DOT Card.
Testing for the CLP tomorrow at the DMV. - My buck.
Question. - If I pass the learners permit test, am I committed to CRE or can I just pay them back for the DOT Physical?
At this point it is still my investment at the DMV for the CLP Test and Learner's Permit.
And.
I certainly hope that a Trainer and/or Partner relationship is not one considered a "Contact Sport."
Done scare me any more. Is that really necessary? If so. - Forget this. - Scare me so I know now not to proceed because I was looking for a friendlier "Fellowship" Team Player industry.
I understand competitive bids for work, but once on the road I believe that The Golden Rule and those unwritten ~ that only the heart of a Good Samaritan follow ~ override any other play.

We've heard this multiple times already.
But could you please name those "better options"?
Don't feel offended. But you also have to understand, that people like the OP are newcomers to the industry, you're an insider with possibly lots of experience.
Sure, the internet is a good tool for research. But if you enter certain words on Google search, guess what's gonna pop up at the top of the list?FlaSwampRat and Gamgee Thank this. -

I’m not really up on the company sponsored training places. I got my CDL thru a local college.FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
Tanker. Able to carry a coffee cup this big.
Hazmat. You have been reamed by TSA and Homeland and found to be whistle clean able to haul things that will make a mess potentially. Not for extra pay. That's for sure.
Doubles. This is for those who cannot get their Glasses to correct the image this close in the mirrors of their trailer. (He he...)
Passenger Bus. Able to ride herd on 50 Ornery longhorns on the cattle trail and one overflowing toilet towards morning.
And there might be a few others I missed. There is your push button easy peasy only endorsement for transmission and there is your airbrake test as well. By the time you sit and go Ohm repeating inside the maze of your tractor trailer's Airbrake system and master same you will be able to describe to the mechanic "She leaks" with some credibility. //TEASING...
I should have stayed in bed today, Im in one of those moods. -
But.
I am not moving forward.
You all were right.
The recruiter for the Big company was an ###.
He just did not realize that I am not still wet behind my ears.
I wasn't born yesterday.
He was a total pushy ### on the phone and insulted me.
Tried to make ME look as if I was insulting HIM.(For "asking too many questions") He shut me down.
Just like my Ex.
Spent 25 years of marriage doing my Time in "prison" with him.
No WAY I was gonna sign on with THAT Big Company when the recruiter was treating me that way.
Pushy.
Wanted me to just accept things "BLINDLY"
Even said that.
"Leap of faith" he called it.
No bleeping WAY.
And.
After the way that recruiter treated me over the phone.
I would NEVER recommend his company.
No. I would tell women AND men to stay far far FAR away from that scam.
Only. I will have to sit on this info for a while because I am pretty sure the Big companies follow this site.
But I will. I will.
Anyway.
Yeah. I passed the CDL CLP test at the DMV today.
1st try.
And I am very proud of myself.
But I won't be trucking. I won't be moving forward with this.
Just thought ya all might like a followup.
And I AM. #### proud of myself for passing - first try - after studying hard.
Because I am Smart.
As a whip.
And capable.
And I will figure out where I am going.
It just ain't there.
Anyway.
Thanks all. For your feedback.
Best to you, on your journeys.
