Go to Swift website and get the number for recruiting. Call and talk to a recruiter.

 

I know they would hire you in a heart beat for Border Patrol.
As far as truck driving school, I would check in to local community college for truck driving programs. They are the least expensive, and have a good reputation, Do your homework on any other program. A lot of promises are made and not kept, once they get your money,
A couple of years in the military would help your Law Enforcement endeavor

 

Do yourself a favor. Stick with your associates degree, keep applying for law enforcement jobs and forget about driving a truck. I spent 30 years in this industry and had I known what it was going to become I would never have gotten behind the wheel. My son wanted to drive. I threw a fit. He entered a college program in law enforcement and today he is a State Trooper. Yep, a truck drivers son is a State Trooper. I couldn"t be prouder because for once he listened. What State are you looking for a school in?

Do check with the Community/Technical Colleges in your area. They provide some of the best training in an accredited program.

This will also give you the option of picking a better company than bottom feeders.
With no contracts to sign

The law enforcement gig is ok ...if you're into that sort of thing.Truck driving never leaves your system if you are a true driver. The rewards in the past have been good to me. Hard times will pass for those who work hard and pursue their dreams. As far as schooling...research for a good one ...and don't believe all the BS they hand out. Be careful what you sign up for, and don't believe everything you hear from recruiters. I've been with WSE for the past 4 1/2 years, and could not be happier. No BS, and solid reinforcement. As for your questions : 1. Community colleges seem to be most recommended but the problem is my answer to your second question .
2 . Doesn't matter . The good companies don't hire trainees . Too many trainees are competing for jobs with low paying , abusive companies .
3 .If you managed to get a few years experience and the industry improved it might be beneficial to be an O/O . To try to come in as an O/O with no experience would be a big mistake .

 

Look into working for DOT! They make better than State Patrol as it's a different level of work and not as dangerous, OR try to become a DOT Auditor! That degree can help even in this economy! And the government benefits are WAY better than what you'll ever find in trucking! But stay away from this cesspool called trucking for a few more years!
