Breathtaking...or potentially lifetaking...when I lived in Chicago in the 90's the hookers and gangbangers sure looked beautiful at night along S. Ashland.

    US 83.

Whole lot of lonely road, no traffic.

Since nobody mentioned it: 81 from Carlisle PA to Wytheville VA.

Pretty much every time I run it, I'm going somewhere long distance so that stretch is all paid miles.

I think that I-40 from about the Arkansas/Oklahoma line to Barstow, CA is one of the most beautiful drives in the country. The roads are usually pretty clear, even in winter and there is a variety of terrain. I-40 mostly follows the old U.S. Route 66. If the old 66 were still around, I would opt for that road. There was some colorful scenery and more variety of restaurants along the way.

My Favorite and I only got to run it a couple times was either Rt 50 across Kansas and Colorado and yes that includes Monarch pass Real fun without Jake brakes. Also Rt 54 cutting up NM was beautiful running thru the White sands area.

I enjoyed US 40 through Allegheny county in western MD, that is until they made a freeway out of it to appease Maryland's pantywaists.

At least west of Cumberland the old road runs alongside the freeway.

I like just about any road over in Delmarva. :D

You do know how Canada got it's name, don't you?

They put all of the letters of the alphabet into a hat and started drawing 'em out....

    "C, eh?"
    "N, eh?"
    "D, eh?"

    :D

    Sounds perfectly reasonable to me
