I just got my record expunged but it would be nice to make sure it isn't there before I proceed with the application process. Anybody know if there is a standard background check most companies use? I have a copy of my hireright coming. Is there any others?

Most of the major carriers use DAC (Hireright). Some will do an additional criminal background check, but I believe that is available through DAC, as well. In addition to DAC, most will just contact former employers.

There are some companies that will hire you and don't care if you have a record. Was yours a crime or a minor seatbelt violation?

That's kinda what I figured. Funny part is that the record I just got expunged didnt even show up on hireright last time I checked it. I just ordered it again so we will see.

Chinatown, my charge was aggravated assault. I caught my girlfriend cheating on me and beat the guy up. I was 18. Didn't know any better. One thing I have in my favor is it was 20 years ago.

I'm worried because even though it was expunged now I'm hearing it could take 3 months or more for the state police to actually remove it from your record. That's why I want to check it out myself. I'm thinking I'll be better off just telling the recruiter I got it expunged. Rather than saying I was never convicted of a crime( which I can legally do because its expunged) and have it come up.

Most places I've applied for over the years don't seem to care to much about it because it was so long ago. I was 18and now I'm 39. Big difference in the kind of person I am. And once I explain it to them and they talk to me for a few minutes it has always become a non-issue. But trucking seems to be different than every other job.

USIS is also a company owned and under the DAC (Hireright) Umbrella, Most big or OTR companies will use DAC for sure! If its not on your latest DAC then you should be clean.

If you think it is still on you record and I think it is not but you can always be truthful and list it on your application, most companies if not all have polices for the last 7 or 10 yrs. you have been good for what 21 yrs now! I think you fall into the approval range!
