Here's a shot of how I do mine, so you can see how it works. Using two works also, but I was trying to stretch mine out to do the company's and mine.
Got ahold of some kinedyne straps. They are an orange color, think they call them “steel straps” or something like that. If memory serves me, they have a WWL of 6600. Stiff as all get out. After a year or so, just gave up using them. They just would not roll up very tight, then you let go and they spring open. Glad I didn’t pay for them.
I got some Mytee straps to try and they're not bad. Softer and a "fluffier" weave than Kinedyne. I have an East with the strap hook slider thingamagigs, and since they're fluffy, the loops on the ends catch sliding them in. Not a huge deal, it just takes a couple seconds longer and I have to use 2 hands to slide them on. For that reason only, I'll probably just stick with Kinedyne in the future.
I use old motorcycle inner tubes , cut about 2 inches wide they work great. My harley has 16 inch spoke wheels that use inner tunes. You can probably ask a local bike shop for some .
This is how I do my normal straps and my regular chain straps. But these super strong chain straps are not the same. The rubber will hold but if it gets jostled around in box etc it uncoils. I am also going back on my plan to use them for 10 straight loads to see if they loosen up. They are stiffer than a teenage boy in the girls locker room. They are a pain in the ###. I am probably just going to zip tie them, stick them in bottom of the box and hope to never need them again.
Whatever works, right? Just make sure to keep a good pair of side cutters with them to cut those zips, using a knife to do it can damage them or you. Especially if you use those thick zip ties.
Ever try soaking the strap part in hot water with a drop of laundry soap? The ones I had, did seem to get a bit more pliable after that. You could actually get them to roll up and only mostly uncoil.
