Absolutely DON'T do that. Go in dehydrated, and you probably will get booted for medical reasons. Best advice: Make sure your recruiter gets you down there so you can get a good night's sleep on Sunday. Do drink plenty of water, do avoid salt, caffeine and smoking before the physical. Do take any of your prescriptions as prescribed, and have the bottles available if the doc want's to see the labels. Definitely don't be stressing out, because it's really not a big deal.

BTW... that advice is from a doctor who specializes in medicine for truck drivers.

As far as your eyes are concerned, its not a big deal. If you have to wear glasses to pass the eye test, you'll just have a restriction on your license that states you have to wear corrective lenses when driving.

If you have two of the three you are now required to get a sleep study done:

    1) BMI greater than 35.
    2) Neck larger than 17 inches.
    3) When the doctor looks in your mouth, he can see less than half of your throat.

If you qualify for two out of three, you have to get a sleep study done. Prime will front the money to get it done and deduct it from your paycheck. If you are required to get a sleep study done and you refuse, they will send you home.

There are three levels of sleep apnea: mild, modreate, and severe. Depending on which one you fall in will depend if you need a CPAP machine or not. If you do, Prime will pay for it and deduct the money from your check to pay it back.

You can Google BMI charts for DOT to get an idea of where you are.

Example 1: 5'11" 250lbs (BMI 35) with a 19" neck. Doctor can see more than 50% of your throat. No sleep test (1 out of 3).

Example 2: 5'11" 260 lbs (BMI 36) with a 19" neck. Doctor can see more than 50% of your throat. Sleep test required (2 out of 3).

Yup, as long as the med is working, and your blood pressure is normal. They get nervous if it's a new prescription, but I'm assuming from your post you've been on it for awhile. The only difference is the doc will give you a 1-year medical card... which is standard practice per DOT regs everywhere.

The same thing I was afraid of failing too,not being able to read the eyechart.Print an online eyechart then tape ot to your wall, stand like 25 feet and see if you can read it,covering your left then your right eye.If not get a pair of glasses from Walart and try again. That's how I passed. Also get your BP checked from a doctors office, not a portable machine, they are way off.I had my bp checked at walgreens and was very upset because I was on bp medicine. So immediately went to my doctor and it was normal.Walgreens read 100 over.

sleep apnea in itself won't keep you from getting a job, now uncontrolled sleep apnea will
