I know you can claim almost everything you have to buy on the road, but what can you not claim on your income tax?

Sure you can. You just list it as "polishing service" is all. The IRS doesn't need to know it wasn't your wheels being polished.
-
And then you can write off all the medical bills you incure from a faulty polishing job.

My instructor said the most you can claim on your tax return (per a day) right now is $59i believe. That is what the IRS says it takes to live a day as a truck driver. this is for food, calls home, showers etc.
Which if you like to live in luxury on the road EX eat out every meal shower every day make log phone calls home, That $59 a day could be a very real figure very fast.. -
The per diem is for food only.
You can take 100 showers a day. And if you paid for each & every one of them, you can turn in the reciept. You can also write off your laundry.
You pump $12 of quarters into those machines, write it down along with the date & location. It's a seperate write off.
CB radio, Windex, TV, armorall, paper towels are all a seperate write off.
Inverter, cell phone, laptop, wireless internet are a write off. Atlas, fuel guides, oversize load regulation books are all a write off.lil may, Rotten and formertaxidriver Thank this. -
Nice i just bought a 19in TV the other day to for when i get out there. -

Now I have to ask, are there accountants that specialize in truckers?
