The dedicated CB spot on the T680 is limited.
I see lots of guys using the Cobra 29 but thinking about going w a General HP 40 because its about the same size... What other good radios fit in that little spot ?

Uniden 880 and 980, and the 78s. The front mike plug Galaxy CBs. Others, I don't know about.

    BCV and 91B20H8 Thank this.

    Rig below in 579 Pete

Uniden 980 with RM ITALY KL203 baby amp. 70W-plus all day for $75. 88-Radio or EBay.

The real kicker is a digital signal processing speaker. Kills noise. Hear what you’ve never heard.

    WEST MOUNTAIN RADIO “ClearSpeaker”
On sale at $169 plus free shipping from DX ENGINEERING thru 12/31. Will change your life.

And TOP GUN TECH antenna studs and flat bar (Bobs CB) with a pair of 7’ Skipshooter antennas (see that site)

No tech needed except to build power harness with disconnects for radio/amp/speaker. (Upgrade amp airing).

Velcro amp to radio. Velcro Speaker bracket to cubby. Install antennas and tune for lowest SWR individually.

You’ll hear and you’ll get heard. And a complete system for less than many “big radios”. With better performance.

Will all run from factory 15A circuit.

President McKinley, fits in tray with room to spare, radio is stock, excellent receive and modulation, very clear, not very user friendly while driving to adust RF gain but it can be done.

    Slowmover1 and BCV Thank this.

In addition bearcat 980 noise canceling mic can be used or can use stock mic and have option to change channel with mic.

That’d be the radio I’d step up to over the 980.

    But the DSP speaker first.

I don't use the cubby hole too small for the Galaxy.

Some good options fellas. I just sold my Galaxy DX 94... Thanks for the reply and pics Slowmover1. I like that setup. Now I just need to decide between the 980 or McKinley and study the DSP some more. Sounds like that's the ticket.

    Slowmover1 Thanks this.

The DSP speaker is awesome. Has to be experienced. The better you make your rig (tuning & noise control, higher quality components) the bettter it performs.

Bonding & static control are next.
