Get a Galaxy DX-979 with a normal tune and alignment. It has the larger meter, full dimming display, SSB and a smaller footprint than the Cobra 29. It also has better TX and RX and adjustable power, right out of the box.

tube socks or ankle socks. boxers or briefs. there is no one set CB radio for anyone. there are hundreds of makes and models to choose from. personally, i prefer the Galaxy line, as i have used them for 20 years and only had the typical problems from that line of radios.

if you liked your previous Galaxy, get a modded 959. great radios. or, if your feeling like going on a splurge, get the 95T model that does well over 200 watts.

either way, you will get different answers from everyone. all radios have different features and different abilities, modified or not.

you might as well ask someone what is the best handgun for yourself. you wont know until you try a few different types.

good luck, and make a post about your final pick.

I don't much care for the Galaxy radios.....RCI. They have a problem with drift on sideband.

Now if you'll get a REAL technician to tune it up and not one of these "super mod tweaknicians" guys, you'll have great radio that will last a long time! Don't forget to put a noise cancelling mic on it.

Don't get another radio...Want more "Punch" next spend some money on a Amp! "More Bang for the Buck"

A small 2-pill will do wonders!
