It seems to me having things like an inverter would be pretty standard, but some companies dont provide even that. To stay healthy and be able to save up some money , you need to be able to cook for yourself and not eat fast food every day.
So what does your company provide?
Inverter ?
APU ?
CB or connections for one?
Fridge ?
Microwave or a place for one?
I would like to gather info on all the majors for this if possible.
Thanks in advance.

Our trucks are almost fully equipped.
KW 680, Volvo 780, 670 a few 630's
APU. 1800w inverter. Fridge/freezer standard equipment. Cb connections and the standard factory multiplex cb/am/fm/tv antennas. That setup fairly well sucks I run stand alone cb and tv antennas reception is much better that way. CB must be installed by shop. They're really anal about the equipment and it's very well maintained.
680/780 have a place to securely mount microwave the smaller volvos it stows under the bunk as has to be brought out to cook.
680's have an adjustable swivel tv mount installed. Volvos you have to get creative with mounting if you have a tv.
All I had to add was my 30" flat screen and microwave and I live well on the road.icsheeple, NoPlanB and The Crossword Trucker Thank this. -
What company do you work for ?
Do they hire rookies? -
Ashley furniture.
No they don't hire rookies. It's a move-up and earn your way into gig.
Rarely hire but we are in an expansion and will be needing drivers over the next 1-2 years in most locations.
Standards are high but if you can show one year continuous with one company and a clean record they'll consider at this time. Once staffing meets growth they'll get more picky again. They're slow to hire it's a lengthy process but no orientation surprises they vet and clear you on everything before you're invited to orientation. Small orientations no cattle calls. There were only 4 in my class. Mine was 6 weeks from application to orientation and it was one of the quicker ones from what I understand.
It's a good gig. Home every weekend, truckload side does 60-70+k, LTL does 70-90k, great equipment. It's a gig you can retire from. -
I would think that the usual would be pretty standard, like steering wheel, brakes, glass, seat belts, and maybe a tire or two. Why do you think that an inverter should be standard? if you want to cook in your truck, then when you get a job, go out and buy one, and have the shop install it for you. why do you think that you will be eating fast food every day.??
the truck stop food is just as good as can be, if you want fast food, then you will seek it out, but do not blame the lack of a "standard inverter" to be your problem in eating or staying healthy.
why would a company supply YOU with a cb radio..??? -
My company supplies
In cab navigation (it sucks)
Streering wheel radio and cruise controls
10 speed manual
1800 watt inverter
Fridge and freezer combo

Can take a week off after being out for 3 weeks
Full pay status after 6 monthsantoinefinch Thanks this. -
What company is that?
-
The company I was with supplied worn out truck inside and out. I use to heat up cans of soup on the turbo.

They all provide creature comforts, its just sometimes a question of what kind of creature they think they are hiring. Can't really blame them considering how many drivers make me think of swine.
