Looking at the websites some companies mention per diem but don't say if it's forced or not. In what I've read here it's a losing proposition for a driver.

The companies I'm most interested in are
    Garner transportation
    Magnum
    Halvor Lines
    Millis

I'm pretty sure these ones don't have it or force it either.
    Ho Wolding
    Schneider bulk
    Gordon
    Prime
    Maverick refrigerated

    Thanks

Schneider bulk is a good company for making a good paycheck. Don't know about the per diem though.

At central refrigerated we have forced per diem if you are a company driver. Might be for lease ops as well but I'm not sure.

GoldenFan, when it comes to the pre diem there are pros and cons. what do you fill the down side is? there is a down side but chances are it will not affect you.

ps. I too at first was much uninformed and against it, till my tax man show me how to make it work for me and the 2 areas it will screw me if I fall into either one.

    Creampie I'm in WI.

Logbook, I don't want to be paying in at the end of the year and from what's on here it also makes a difference in what's paid into SS. My wife works and we always pay in more every year than we get back. It's not even close, that's why I'm thinking taking the deduction at the end of the year would be better for me. A temporary bump in pay that I then have to pay back at the end of the year would piss me off.

Schneider forced per diem on me for the first 90 days when I worked there. I was only there for 77 days.
