I think Ruan has a "jet set" fleet.

You could just fly yourself home. Plane tickets are cheap. If you picked a company that terminal in big city. Just get uber or taxi to airport and fly home and leave truck a company terminal for home time. I remember reading about driver on here that lived in Alaska and would just fly home from Seattle. Then fly back to Seattle and drive for couple weeks in regular run staying in lower 48

hopefully you live close to airport Southwest or JetBlue go into, maybe Spirit if they don’t close down

Agreed. Just looked it up and a round trip flight from Columbus, OH to NYC on Delta, with one bag, is 184 dollars. A single safety bonus, fuel bonus, or just marginally higher pay at a company he truly desires would cover that. Factor in airline rewards, finding a credit card with airline benefits, and paying for it and taking the cash back, it could be a pretty smooth system.

Tons of terminals in Columbus, just as an example. Coldliner, Heartland Express (and their affiliates), Brown Logistics, all the LTL’s, A&R Transport (the tanker company), etc. just to name a few

If you’re just really a fan of flying and it’s not just to avoid finding parking for home time, lots of large companies hire people solely to recover trucks. A guy I follow on social media recovers trucks for Hirschbach. Downside is avoiding the pee bottles and the 12 day old lunch meat that hasn’t been refrigerated since the batteries died a week prior lol.

Some smaller companies might even like that you’re willing to fly to/from home if you talk to them about it. Good chance they might be losing more money finding a load to and from the house than they would just sending you a plane ticket.

I talked to a guy sometime back that did the piggyback gig from factory to dealer, he lived out of a large backpack, nothing more, no carryon or anything. Made good money, but as he said it was rough at times, also his schedule could get pretty screwed up and infrequent.

Also, the OP's DUI, regardless of age is going to be a problem, that's pretty much a lifetime ban for operating a commercial vehicle in Canada, similar restriction to having a felony.
