I am going to graduate from truck driving school and will have no experience. What companies will give me the most vacation time (unpaid) as a recent graduate first year? Is 2 months time off a fantasy? I am based in Phoenix, AZ so here are the companies that I think I qualify for as a 21 year old-

    May Trucking
    Werner
    USA Trucking
    El henderson
    Rohel
    Covenant
    Mid American Specialized Transport
    Us express
    Swift
    Trimac
    Transport America
    C.R. England
    Pdp
    Gordon
    Crst
    Con-Way
    Stevens

    Thanks a bunch,
    Clay

I doubt you'll just be able to take 2 straight months off with any company unless its for a medical issue or because you're in the national guard/reserves and get called up or something. Even then you will have to turn your truck in.

    elviaje26 Thanks this.

If you ask for 2 months off, you'll be on the books as "terminated", however, it's what they put in your file that matters. I'm talking "eligible for re-hire" or "Not eligible". This is the wrong biz to hire on and then want boo-coo time off.

Yep. Ranks right up there with me winning Miss America. This isn't high school anymore. You don't get a "summer vacation." You want two months off? Buy your own rig, get your own authority, then turn those wheels when you feel like it. Of course, if you don't feel like it often enough, you'll lose your shirt.

On your list of companies, there are maybe 3 worth working for. Pick one of the others and you are in for some headaches..

Most of my earlier vacations consisted of $500 extra on your check. Your vacation you take during your off time! :) Stay out 6-8 weeks you can take five days off. Stay out any longer and the company gets nervous. You have to understand how many deadbeats that abandon trucks that makes them skittish. Seven days off and there is a recovery team knocking at your door.

Two months off? Either quit or become a school teacher! :)
