lol, you are just starting out and you wonder how you can get two months vacation? it is very easy to do that.

its is so simple , i am surprised no one else posted it. but here is how you do it.

graduate truck driving school, stay home two months , and then get a driving job. then after that , dream on.

the original post should win an award, for post of the year

the questions some of these new guys ask is just assinine. No job seeker in any field should ask. Good grief, I think I need to stay out of this specific forum

The last thing on my mind when I was starting out was which company offered the most vacation time. Starting job, and vacation shouldn't be in the same sentence. At least not in an entry level position.

A 21 year old who wants 2 months off....this makes me sad. Momma or daddy ever teach you about work ethic?

Here is a question I posed to a recruiter (yeah, I know, he was probably full of male bovine feces ).

Was told a person driving OTR gets one day off for each six days. If a trucker were to stay out for ninety days, would he be allowed to take fifteen days off?

Not usually. It seems like the OTR companies don't want you to take more then 3-4 days off at a time(unless it is vacation time). Check with the individual companies, but usually it is spelled out on the website.

Now there are some companies, like Roehl, that have a 7 on/ 4 off (or something close to it) where you share a truck with another driver, so the truck is always moving.

I have seen companies that have allowed you to bank days like this, but many have stopped doing that and have a max number of days you can take off regardless of how much time you spend out there. The other problem is, even if you find a company that allows that, they will most likely reassign your truck and now you will have to take whatever truck is available...IF there is a truck available.

I know you only get a week AFTER your first year with Roehl. I plan on staying out for 36 days that way I get 7 days off then take a 7 day vacation. That way I get two weeks off for vacation.
