What companies would give an ex-felon a chance to prove themselves?

That's probably the best advice right there.

 

It's hard to find a job in almost any industry with a major felony. Construction will hire you, but it's iffy and the jobs aren't there and the pay is not what it was. I still do some, mostly home type renovation, but I'm in my forties now; I am very fit for my age but it wont be there forever, gotta plan for the future. I'm also very smart, but office jobs are even harder, and that's not what I want to do. My last job tried to steer me out of the warehouse and into the office, and that's part of the reason I decided on a new career. I'm probably not going to make tons of money unless I start my own business someday. That may happen but not right away. I was talking to the guy who wants to hire, he will probably do so in the future when he gets things more squared away and he told me I would probably end up doing that. He's probably right, but this seems to be the industry, where after a couple years I can make some decent money and have a future. I will miss my family while I do this but we all know the situation, even the kids, so we are braced. The pros outweigh the cons on this one. Can you think of a better choice in this situation?

 

I'm in south Florida. We would most likely move to central Florida, the Carolinas or our first choice, Tennessee. We would move elsewhere if all was right but the kids have a father who they see every other week and he has agreed for us to move, because south Florida isn't a great place to raise kids but we can't go halfway across the country. I would like to move to Kansas or thereabouts but that is too far away.
