    Hello Driver,

Well I know Celadon for a fact is doing Ok, and is not laying off drivers,, they don't have a freeze that I'm aware of. Just came out of orientation, and there was a class behind me, and I understand each week there after.. Also Schneider as I had a serious conversation with their recruiter over a weekago and he assure me that they had openings, in certain areas, etc

Think about what you said . Orientation classes every week . Carriers have decreased their fleet size . If they aren't laying off they have to keep hiring because drivers keep quitting . Why do you think that is ?

Because people are leaving the company. My hubby left them just before Christmas. One of the guys he knows that still drives for them sees drivers cleaning out their trucks all the time.

That was before they started buying up every company out there. They bought out at least four companies last year, but there really wasn't a pick up in miles for very many drivers.

I think Steve is listening to the wrong people these days.

They are not the same company at all. Steve Russell spends more time listening to his corporate yes men now than the drivers. From what I've heard this week alone my friend saw five drivers quit or get fired. Drivers constantly complaining about miles dispatchers mouthing off to drivers. One of the dispatchers actually told him you not getting any miles isn't my problem I don't need to listen to your crap. Go to celadon at your own risk, Some drivers are still rolling ok but not all drivers.

Usually when carrier does the buy-out thing, its not to aquire trucks and people. It's to try to gain the other carrier's book of business.

And none of those buyouts seem to have acquired much in the way of business.

The only one that involved any equipment or people was the last buy-out, which was Continental. If the company has already ruined itself before getting bought out, are the customers really going to take their chances on going with the new outfit? Most of them had probably already been working new deals with other carriers.
