Forget the DAC. That is rough but nothing like a proper blacklist done legal and proper depending on what state it comes from. One company that did that would verbally say Im on blacklist to a prospective employer but they are smart enough never to put that in writing. If they did then I can use their state laws to prosecute them for a whole bunch of money.

DAC's can be worked around and bypassed by running with small family type companies with heavy trucks that do not do any DAC anywhere. Ive done it. After a while I don't worry about that stuff.

    DAC-Hire right is total BS!
They will put anything the company tells them on it!
Remember the companies PAY Dac for the service.....
I have fought a few things with them over the years and got them removed....bunch of BS...

I had only one Company trash me,said I was dishonest, damaged company equipment and always late!
I was Never dishonest, ran my butt of and NEVER late on a load!.....

They were pissed I told them to shove it after 5 weeks on the road and they called me one day #####ing because I stopped for 45 minutes.Fueled, scaled, fast shower and a sandwich to go.....

B&L Transport out of Connersville,IN.......Stay far away from them!

Has Hirerite even claimed to be about safety? Anyone who thinks Hirerite is no more than an expanded MVR is stupid. All they do is report on what has happened in the past. Does this screw drivers? Sure it does. It never claimed not to. Does it lower a companies insurance? Sure it does as the company now has a way to know if you're prone to tearing up trailers in the yard. It also gives a record of if the employees that do silly things like never deliver on time because they take five 30 minute breaks a day.
Libel laws are still in force, so all one has to do is simply do the job hired for, don't go around breaking stuff and you will never have to worry about DAC.

This is another good reason every driver should take a good long hard look at trucking companies they plan on working with, don't waste time on trucking companies with bad reputations
Dac is a record of bad bets made the driver made. Hopefully we can starve the bad companies out by playing their own game on them

Which is one reason why I think recruits are showing up as Immigrants. Cheaper pay and more population versus the American driver. Easier to hire and tell what to do and they go do it. Im not saying they are bad, but trying to starve trucking companies of drivers causes changes we might not like or want. It will take a war or something similar for draft etc to be imposed to drain man power from trucking companies.

Truck accidents and such things as DUI charges can be determined without "Blackballs R Us". A simple background check will tell whatever one would need to know.

I've had items removed on Dac before.

It's a month or more process, kinda tedious, but it can be done.

If you dispute and the company in question doesn't respond within 2 weeks it is automatically removed. So that's worth a shot in itself.

The thing is to make certain the burden of proof lies with the carrier instead of you. So for example if you return a truck to the terminal after quitting and they put unauthorized location of vehicle on your transcript then you know that's a lie. What I do is email HireRight while I'm in the quitting process. I inform them of who I drive for, and that I am returning a tractor trailer to the designated terminal. After I arrive, I take pictures of the tractor trailer.
I also inform via email to the safety director that the truck will be returned and that HireRight has been notified of my intention to return the truck.

The key phrase here is C.Y.A.
always take preemptive measures to cover yourself. YOU MUST ASSUME A DAC REPORT WILL BE FILED AFTER YOUR DEPARTURE FROM A COMPANY.

Anticipate this and take necessary precautions to keep your transcript clean.

Sounds like the company wasn't worth working for in the first place if you have to go through such actions when you resign.

Any company that subscribes to the HireRight services has the propensity to report erroneous information on your DAC report. It has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not the company was worth working for, and more to do with being proactive rather than reactive.

Even the best companies will try and post negative information. Why take a chance that the company you are leaving will be Fred Rogers friendly?
