You would think flatbed is the way to go to eliminate difficult backs, right?
Backing a spread axle in a tight truck stop is a challenge. PRECISION backing is a REQUIREMENT to load at some customers.
Consider the scenario where you need to get a 30' long piece of equipment on your deck that is EXACTLY 102" wide. It's a muddy lot and the only equipment to lift the piece in the air is three forklifts. They raise it into the air and you have to back at an angle before turning the trailer to get perfect. Any part of that machine over the rails and you can't haul it legally without a permit.
Or get on a job site that is worse than a truck stop. Oil refineries, fracking pads, or some little customer with a "yard" shorter than your trailer.
OP should take the advice to get after it, take on backing challenges and PRACTICE. You KNOW you got it when you look forward to a good challenge.

Xzay, what you need is a dedicated route with a dozen or so moderate backings a day. Practice makes perfect.
Nothing is worse than having a hot girl watching you mess up a fancy 90 degree backing over and over again.x1Heavy, The Patriot and Xzay Thank this. -

The gate guard could tell I was new when he saw me goal twice for a pretty much straight line back. He then sends me to a tricky yet remote dock away from other trucks to back it into.
Then while I am heading there he calls a bunch of the dock workers and they are all gathered around watching me. Laughing and rooting the whole time.
Even my trainer went over to talk with them while I was going backward and forward all that time. -
To the OP...just get your ### out of the truck and look at the situation. Readjust if necessary. Back up some. Get your ### out of the truck and look again! You'll get better. There is no shame getting out and looking. A lot of shame pussin out or crashing into something or someone's rig.Be a trucker or don't man.
