There are no stupid questions, only stupid mistakes. You can always tighten up from a open radius but recovering from a tight radius is much harder. That's why it's important to not over steer while backing. Expecially with combinations.

Whenever I had to get into a dock with no lines or point of reference I would set, then GOAL and make my own points of reference. At night a cheap LED made a good pivot point and maybe some lights on the dock.
In the daytime a rock or flattened can will do. My brother turned me on to carrying a can of foam "paint", the kind used by soccer referees to temporarily mark a line for players to stand behind.
The worst is when customers or truckstops can't paint straight lines. My brother and I had a hell of a time at a particular customer getting into their dock straight. As an ex plumber he quickly figured out the lines weren't perpendicular to the dock. He laid down new lines with the foam can and then it was easy.x1Heavy Thanks this. -

As far as OP, I'd consider not doing dedicated. What about line haul or OTR? Not a lot of hard backing in either of those. Dedicated is asking to go to small stores instead of huge warehouses every day.Xzay Thanks this. -

Still new here this happens a lot and the tactic you are resorting to are quite comical.
