Ok so the other day I was driving in Northern Virginia going through some mountains in a straight truck..
I was going downhill in 6th and noticed my speed was dropping, even with the pedal to the floor... I tried downshifting to 5th and 4th but my speed kept dropping.. It only stopped declining when I put it in 3rd but it was way too slow for the road I was on, so I pulled off to the side of the road and waited for cars to go by so I could get out without holding up any traffic..
I don't understand why I was losing speed on a decline, what did I do wrong??
What did I do wrong?? (6 speed truck)

Your speed won't increase if you downshift going downhill.
You haven't told us what happened next.
You pulled off to the side... and then what?
Did you pull back out and resume? Or just sit there.
I don't think it was anything you did. It is something wrong with the truck.Giuseppe Ventolucci and CrappieJunkie Thank this. -
There are times you think you are going down hill but you are in reality going up hill. It happens to me some times.

I've been on 3 hills in PA either labeled 'Gravity Hill' or having an obvious illusion, but there are areas like this all over the US. This is a photo taken near the top of one near New Paris, PA. Although it appears the road goes uphill, it is probably a 3% or 4% slope downhill.
