Yeah, I got the same one from SLC term. I would think that all we would need to do is just hold them up to be let out. Its a new policy so I am sure its gonna have its bugs. Also SLC said that they were going to check out going trks/trls a basic walk around insp, and if a defect was found, then that trk would be routed back into term to go to shop for needed repairs.

Personally I don't mind the added focus on the equipment being up to spec. But the fault lies in the fact that most terms only have usually one trl guy doing major and even minor repairs to these old trls. I have felt that what should be done is, a roving work repair crew, specializing in trl repair and restoration go from term to term and where ever large amts of our trls are, to do quick and fast repair work.

I remember a couple of years ago, I dropped a trl at Lewiston and there must have been at least a 100 red tagged trls just sitting there, I have nicked named that term, the red tagged trl grave yard.

Well, on the other hand, it has been a couple of years since I have picked up a trl with bad tires. Yes sometimes a burned out light, but over all, I do think the level of upkeep has really improved a lot over the years.

Picked up a t-call in Denver yesterday, two bad tires on it. Bad thing about the repair process is multiple steps and long wait just to get a simple repair done. Guess I'll see about the CA thing when I deliver on thursday. Time for some much needed home time for now.

California is still pissed that you all turned your trucks up from 57 mph. You all behaved so well back then.

I have at times see a guy driving around at both the Edwardsville and SLC yard checking on trailers. I wonder now if this means that they are going to put someone on the fuel islands at the Columbus terminal for longer than 7-3. Also wonder what they will plan with Fontana? Ask the security guard to check out the trailer. And you bring up Lewiston, there is no place to check in when you arrive, just like Houston and some others.

Ya Edwardsville does yard checks every morning including trucks I've woke to a red tag in my window for a bad tire on my truck before and it really sucks if they redraft a trailer your under and wake up to deliver and find a its been red tag for a tire but they chose not to fix it and exspect you to get it in shop before you leave I was late to deliver because they did this to me.

i guess the moral of the story is.. dont goto terminals to do yer 10, just pickup yer tcall and go. pgx red tagged my trlr when i was sleeping, i woke up 45mins before my delivery only to see a red tag for miss matched tires.. sounds good, but now im in line behind 5 other pist off drivers and sending in a mac22 pushing del back 4hrs.. yup my dm freaked and they un tagged me and let me out the gate.

as for showing yer dl & med card, i laugh. only place ive been asked to show mine was memphis, and all i said was its out in my truck ans she just gave me my tcall.. now if i have to show it going out the gate each time, then im going to kinkos and blowing them up and laminating it, then get creative and change my dl pic to see if they realy pay attention. its yet another polocy swift tried to inforce and failed.

this is why i try and avoid the terminals, and if im at one its to fuel, p/u tcall quick shower and i try and do that late night when the blue shirt monkeys are home. i have no reason to be at swifts yards, hell i dont even allow them to work on my truck.
no offence but swift lacks in more ways than none. i like swift, they run me, but i dont let them 'run' me.. right..

just avoid terms, and youll do fine.

To be fair about terminals. It's almost a love/hate relationship it seems. There have been a few times when I needed their help and they came through for me, and for those times I am sincerely and truly grateful. And yes at other times, they have pissed me off to no end. But still, I have always considered the people that work in them, to be usually fine, good and decent people. Just trying to do their job, and yes, just as we, are part of a team, all trying to earn a living and to help Swift to succeed.

Actually I have found or seen how terminal fuel prices do seem to cycle from way below the street price to comparable to it. So when term fuel is cheaper, I don't hesitate to take advantage of it to save myself a little bit of green.
