I don't like to get over 3300 miles on a pay week. Uncle Sam likes to take a nice chunk out of those. Even though lately it's been tough getting over 2500. But oh well there's always next week!!

    Roll Tide!!

This hombre's full of more beans than a Taco Salad.
And I'm not insinuating about lying in regards to miles...

In a perfect world, if you can run 60mph, 10hrs a day, 7 days a week, that works out to 4,200 miles/week. But an experienced driver will tell you that ain't gonna happen, because we don't live in a perfect world.

Hmmm can't tell if you're a boy or a girl from your avatar but you don't look the required age for a CDL.

A couple weeks ago I had a very hard charging week. I ran a whopping 1800 miles, then celebrated with a nice ribeye steak. Last week I ran 3,800 miles and didn't feel like celebrating?

    Why?

Because that 1,800 mile week paid just shy of $2000 gross payroll, with a healthy settlement check on top. The 3,800 mile week featured a LOT of unpaid deadhead. Payroll was $1700 (loads not paying nearly as well as the previous week) and the settlement check wasn't anything to get excited about because of all the fuel I burned.

When I was locked into a fixed amount per mile I "Just Gots To Get Me Some Miles!!!!" Now I really happy to run fewer miles for more money. Yesterday I deadheaded 500 miles and I chose to do that, because I refuse to run crappy loads paying crap. I would FAR rather get in position for high paying freight. I learned my lesson about that a few years ago. Revenue is the key. Don't waste time on crap in order to reduce deadhead. That ends up reducing the total revenue for the week.
