no, usuall the 8 hours, sometimes 10, then go. we had city drivers that did the pick ups and deliveries, all we had to do was run the trailers from here in the north, down to the south, get into a motel (as we ran day cabs) then the city drivers down there did thier jobs. sometimes after our 8 in VA, they would send us to Louiville, KY, take our 8, and either back to VA, or straight back up here.

    were we "blurry-eyed"..??

of course, but we were making the money too...no complaints from any of us...

Yes, I know. 10 or 8 minus commute and shower and meal and family. I know what that's like.

It's just a way to suck you in. You break out the calculator then do the math on $.34 cents a mile and think your going to be rich but you never come even close to those miles once you sign on.

out of the 4 of us, i had the shortest commute to home, about 6 miles. oh yeah, the safety/dispatch argued that when the first wheel hit the driveway, we were "home"....

we each told them, BS, we are HOME when we are HOME, and our clock starts then.

not too much of a debate after that. that company "specialized in high value cigarettes, from the south, and booze from Kentucky", and we "got it here or there", in fast time. we even ran in snow, when the southern drivers cried about coming up north.

don;t let me tell you how we "colored our books", running day cabs.

    Oh, uh, ssssuuurreee.
    Problem with dreams and personal desires is that reality tends to get in the way;
As in the real reality... not your own.

Lol 4000 a week use to be a minimum. With lose leaf logs and team freight for solo's.

Buy your log book would look something like this.

But of course most of that sleeper time you would be running.

    Roll Tide!!

It's not that bad if you do two 2,000 mile runs back to back. Doing several short hauls would wear you out more.

The last time I ran 4000 miles in a week, I got extremely lucky. I dropped a load in Lithia Springs, GA and picked up a 12,000lb load at the same facility going to Los Angeles. Once I got to Los Angeles, I picked up my next load 3 blocks away in a different city. Took my 10 while they loaded it, they knocked on my door as soon as my 10 was up and hooked up to the trailer and took it to Cedar Rapids, IA and I had 3 hrs left on my 70. 4100 miles from Sunday to Friday

Laredo to Taylor, MI: 48 hours
    Taylor to Montreal: <24 hours
Montreal to Laredo: 30 hours to Joplin, 34 reset, 24 hours to Laredo

I had 50+ hours left on my 70 when I dropped the final in Laredo, but I had to be manually dispatched because Con-Way's computer system didn't like how many miles I'd driven in the previous 7 days...

You've been whining about what you couldn't do for 3 years now...
