4000 miles in 5 days is 800 miles a day. In an ungoverned truck running at night through Texas or similar states, could be done legally. In other states and/or running at night you would need to bend the rules.

This all assumes you don't have to do anything like pick up or deliver freight (apologies to animal freight) or otherwise burn part of your 14. No traffic jams, no construction zones, no delays at shippers or receivers. Nothing to do but drive.

Now I am familiar with loose leaf coloring books and how you can sleep as needed and still be creative and grind out miles. I've done it safely, but given the reality of actually spending time at shippers and receivers, having fuel stops pinning you to a time and place, or running toll roads or scales putting you in a time and place, those are rare days indeed.

I haul high tariff freight and get paid a percentage of what the truck makes. My best day of making money was bobtailing 220 miles and 24 loaded miles. Made $700 as my cut to repower a 3 axle trailer the last few miles to a fracking site because a rookie driver snapped the drive shaft. It took a few hours of work to disconnect the tractor and tow it out of the way, then hook and pull the trailer up a dirt road with 20% grades.

Not everyone has to run long miles to make money. You do what it takes. For me it's a fun change-up to get a multi day long haul. Usually it's short hauls with a couple hours running dirt roads in low range.

I ran 3700 miles on elogs in 7 days and it sucked. Kingsport tn to dubois pa. Then to johnsonburg pa and back to kingsport(2 trips) then kingsport tn to dubois pa to johnsonburg to Charlotte to Roanoke va then back to kingsport tn.

I was running paper logs ang went from kingsport tn to plainfield indiana then over to indy, back to Spartanburg sc then to the sc/ga line almost(loves exit 4 on 85) in one day(nearly 1100 miles). I was hating life, it blows because you get over tired and cant sleep. I never did that #### again.

The sooner you can jump ship, the better.

Truckers running outlaw are huge targets for slip-and-fall lawyers.

You put in a old school drivers work day once in your life. Bravo sir.

I'm just gonna duck off this forum. Seems like it gets more comical everyday.

I remember the time when 4,000 mile weeks gave us a chance to get rested up. LOL
