I am looking at a percentage lease. NOT a lease purchase, my truck purchased from dealer and leased to company XXXX.
They pay 77% with company trailer and 82% if you have your own.
My application should be approved today or Monday at which time I can review the lease contract.
What would you guys expect the company to provide for their %
Thanks!
What do experienced O/O's look for in a lease?

Thats a decently high %, although if they haul cheep freght its a high % of a low number. Find out what the average /mile and o/o gets. Obviously it will varry between loads but they should be able to provide an average. To give you a reference, Landstar is 65%/70%. Flatbed is generally a few % higher.
For their % you run under their authorety. That includes, drug testing, safety training, lots of paper work etc. Find out if you have to pay for permits/baseplate or do they. What about insurance? All these factor into what they pay and what you pay. What kind of fuel discounts do they have? Do you get 100% of fuel surcharge? they also should take care of your ifta.2CAN Thanks this. -
Are u a student? An 82% deal would typically be for an O/O who wants to run under the authority of another carrier. Would prob cover some authority, factoring so u get paid weekly, an handling all the paperwork and ins for you. They may or may not provide dispatch, depending on the deal u strike up. Some O/O's like self dispatch. 82% would prob not cover all of the required insurances, plates, and etc, or fuel and repairs
2CAN Thanks this. -
They pay linehaul and 100% FSC to the truck
Plates are on me. Which I prefer, if it the deal goes south I want as few ties as possible to the company
Need to check rates still. They don't want to share that info until I am approved.
Thanks! -
I would not expect the company to repair or fuel my truck for any %, would you?
Thanks! -
and you should know whats in their lease before you get approved, if they don't furnish that with no problem, run and don't look backRed Hot Mess, 2CAN and Richter Thank this. -
