I fill it out. Check.
14 hour clock, 12 hours driving, got it. (CA intrastate)
I can split my 10 by 2 and 8, fair enough.
What do I do when it's done? Am I supposed to file the thing somewhere? My boss doesn't want anything to do with my logs, but without them, I'd have nothing to stop him from running me 80+ hours a week!
What do I do with a logbook?

Boss is supposed to get them.
Toomanybikes and Cottonmouth85 Thank this. -
Keep the original at your house. Have your own file at home; this covers you if something happens.
bobtrucks2204, Cottonmouth85 and GiantBeard Thank this. -
Throw it out the window!

Thanks. The old driver didn't file anything, so the boss assumed that he was free of any responsibility. I'll just keep them, I guess.
What are they used for, with the exception of inspections and accidents? -
Back-up toilet paper.....
Toomanybikes, bobtrucks2204, bottomdumpin and 3 others Thank this. -

If so, you don't even need to keep a log.
Either way, make sure you keep the last 8 days worth with you while you're on the road. -
myself i have never hauled logs before, gonna have to ask one of them woodpeckers aka stick haulers
SHOJim Thanks this.
