some shippers/receivers prefer or require a CB for communication when your door is ready, good prices at most truck stops, don't need to talk to the world either. As far as TV, remember the new TV signal digital/analog issue, so keep that in mind when buying a TV, it is 50/50 whether or not to have one that has a CD player built in, or to get a small CD player and plug it into the TV. your choice.

As for getting a satelite dish, some like em, some don't, but another expense monthly for the membership. A laptop is always nice, but some $$$ for that, plus the wireless card is going to be around 60$ monthly, or if you frequent certain truck stops, monthly membership, with direct pay (deit card) will run you about 20$ per month.

Most anything you so will cost, so be budget aware, don't go crazy with toys, you are trying to earn a living so be cautious with your money.

I already had a laptop. And before I got my truck assigned, i got a USB internet card. it was about a week or two before i got my CB. I got one of those el-cheap-o Wal-Mart Cobra CBs for $50. Works just great for when you're at the shipper (which is really all you need it for). I bought a Cobra 29LTD Classic off eBay for $40, and still have yet to get it tuned up...but its a little better than that little cobra i first bought.

Sat. TV? its nice, but really not worth it unless you end up sitting for days on end, and you run out of DVDs to watch on your laptop.

You might want to consider a cigarette plug-in fan, a cooler to keep milk and drinks chilled. I've tried the RoadPro cooler ($69.99) the big Igloo cooler (ebay $45) and the Coleman cooler (wal-mart $90ish). They are all good. the coleman i had must have been a defective one, cause it didnt keep things as cool as i wanted. RoadPro and Igloo work the best.

Other electronics? hmmmm.....think that is about it.

-all the basic necessities as listed by your peers
-a set of GOOD jumper cables
-a QUALITY truck tire gauge for many reasons, the least of which it will help you obtain your fuel bonus if your company offers one;otherwise it is a handy item to keep you moving and NOT sitting.(air lines are at most truck stops).Thumping tires w/a kick or bar does not always equate a sucessful PTI.Looks are deceiving when viewing tires.
-EVENTUALLY obtain an air line w/the tire chuck on one end and the piece that hooks to truck glad hand on the other;this too will enable you to move when others sit ESPECIALLY if you do a bunch of drop and hooks.Ain't nothing like hooking to a trailer w/a flat or low on air tire or three and having to wait on a repair vehicle or losing the load entirely. These air lines are often placed on sale at most truck stops.Try to avoid the yellow line and opt for the red colored one.Much better quality after repeated use and when you go to roll it up for storage purposes.PROPERLY INFLATED TIRES ARE LESS LIKELY TO COME APART and that too shuts you down.
-grab some extra lites, bulbs, and etc.from company shop to allow you to keep moving.ANY light out can draw unwanted attention.
    - you will learn more of what to carry the longer you drive and your personal goody box will vary/change over time.
GOOD LUCK out there and enjoy it all.
