From the research that I've done, I need the TWIC and Sealink, I have the TWIC and can get the Sealink card anytime soon. But what else do I need? I've heard truckers have to register to a union? Thank you guys!![]()
What do I need to do container work out of the Newark seaport?

Yep, every port I've ever been to requires a Union card. and if your caught without one you'll be banned from entry.Last edited: Sep 22, 2013

Ugh, I hate unions!

A truck would certainly be needed.

patience lol and a lot of it. although I've never been into the port we have a lot of customers all around it. the traffic there is stupid on wheels even on a good day, much less during rush hour or if a wreck screws up the works. if you don't have patience beyond the ordinary it'll make you old beyond your years lol

Ran the ports in Baltimore and never needed a union card. That was years ago so maybe its changed but Jersey makes its own rules anyway so better to ask around up there.

To work out of the port you don't need to be in a union unless you are going to be a yard jockey or a crane operator

CHEAP FREIGHT.And you will be pulling JUNK down the road so DOT can screw up your CSA Score...
That's all you need to know.RUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNtirednaz Thanks this. -
I've never pulled out of the NJ port but as for the Long Beach or Houston ports all I have ever needed was a TWIC and a whole bunch of patience.
