I save money cooking in the truck.... Well... being vegetarian and avoiding processed food and white sugar for most of my life, I don't eat in restaurants... So, I spend about the same as I was when I was living in a home...

I rent a room. $350 a month,no big deal.
Rocks Thanks this. -
Yeah... I realize that... for years I have been reluctant about donating a bunch of my stuff... I would like to sell it but never took time to deal with it... and keep thinking that one day, if I have a home, I may need it....
But if I had got ridden of most of it, I could have already saved enough storage money to buy everything all over again...

I take hometime 4 times in a year. Each hometime lasts for a week. So I rent a room in an extended stay hotel that has a kitchenette so I can cook... I used one for years. It was $280.00 per week and it was across from my storage... That was the cheapest in town... but it got soooo bad with various managers giving the guests a hard time to refund their deposit and the little bitty ####roaches everywhere... and police showing up almost every day for domestic violence...
that I decided to never go back there... Now I use one that costs $310.00 per week and it's about 5 walking mins from where I park the big truck... it's clean, folks are nice and it has an elevator...
x1Heavy and diesel drinker Thank this. -
Today you can sometimes find long term RV spaces that have covered garage, storage, laundry hookups, covered space for your car, etc. they're more $$ than conventional storage but if you can find a place that has nearby place to park a rig, then this gives you options down the road. (Buy an rv trailer and be able to easily relocate). You can easily hire them moved.
They will receive mail and packages. The typical long term rv tenants are older and very reliable and won't mess with your space and stuff and will call you if something is amiss.
You'll generally find these places in "small town USA" not too far from larger cities.
This is an example
Windsor Place RV Estates - Athens TX, East Texasx1Heavy, Phenomenal, lovesthedrive and 2 others Thank this. -
My roommate announced a couple weeks ago he's selling his house and down sizing .
Rent was 350.00 a month and no way I'm going find that again with apartments in Omaha that arnt in the ghetto over 1000.00 a month .
Always at my girlfriends house when I'm home anyway so rented a large 2 car garage close to work for my car and belongings for 125.00 a month .
Mail goes to a friends house .stacks, x1Heavy, lovesthedrive and 2 others Thank this. -
