What do you actually check on a pre-trip inspection?

    The same way you spot any oil leak.
    Your nose.. you can smell hub oil(gear oil, differential oil or whatever you want to call it) has a distinct smell and is easily noticeable if you pay attention.
    Your eyes.. If you see oil there's oil leaking from somewhere. Oil is typically supposed to be inside something (engine, hub, differential) oil does no good running down a tire.
    Your hands... Much like your eyes if your hands touch something and they get oil on them something might be a miss

    I was going to tell him to check all their tractors to see if they have drum engine brakes or disc engine brakes, but I’m sure his terminal manager and mechanics don’t need him hanging around all night.

    Maybe they'll give him a michrometer and he can mic the links on his tire chains to make sure their in specs.. or its getting that time of year he needs winterize the air in his tires
    FWIT I have a disk brake engine brake its alot stouter than them old drum engine brakes and it's self adjusting too !!!

    Are these grease hubs or oil hubs? Or do you need a photograph of the inside of the trailer wheel?
