I was just going to say that PA isn't that bad. There are many truck stops up on I-80 to choose from, especially once you get west of I-81. New York and New Jersey on north and east is where the suckage begins...

But PA has those weight restricted roads with the 30 to 40,000 dollar fines

That phily, NJ, NYC city area is the worst for me. I would get stuck out there on a monday, do a dozen loads for the week, run up to New Haven on a friday to go back to Dayton Oh, and get stuck in traffic coming out of NYC on a late Friday afternoon.

I’d agree that lack of parking spaces make these two cities (and any others similar) more of a problem to plan.

I’d go further to say that white collar cities (without heavy industry) are full of people with zero respect for the difficulty of maneuvering a big truck. Dallas, Atlanta, Nashville, and worst, DC.

But I’ve not ever had a problem in Houston as locals are well aware of the centrality of trucking to their city’s fortunes. I’ve had them take real pains to let me get over a lane or to make a turn. I dislike Chicago, but have had the same kind of help.

I get it that real estate is expensive. Truck stops need cheap land. And that’s no where in the Bos-Wash Corridor where nearly 100-million Americans live.

But it doesn’t make up for locals acting like jerks. Same for LEOs who see us as easy revenue.

I can usually plan fuel and overnight stops to fit the load. But nothing can be done about inconsiderate locals. That’s where I fence it off as “truck-unfriendly”.

Population density and pre-WWII roads are icing on the cake.

The larger California Bay area. No truck stops. Very little street parking allowed or tolerated. Very few hotels with any truck parking. Horrendous traffic exacerbating the above issues.

Exactly. The 95 and 295 split just south of Richmond is where the Northeast experience begins

NJ has to be the worst on roads into some areas. Husband tries to drive night time only in the Richmond, Baltimore, DC, Atlanta, INdy area if possible, no sense in sitting in traffic for hours.

What is worse than putting up with idiot car drivers is putting up with more inconsiderate truck drivers. I do not ever remember it being this bad when I was riding with him years ago. Swift used to be the tailend joke of everyone, but I don't think truckers went out of their way to block them.
