It's all I want from you right now. (No homo). Ok maybe alittle homo but with alittle JK in it.
Anyways, after getting rudely interrupted by what I found in your post amusing as shown above. The experienced drivers here are merely telling you that not everything is going to go as planned like you think it will. As for taking a shower in 1 min... #### man. Congrats on the speed, though I wouldn't want to stand next to you, so please let me know where your at so I know to avoid it. I know, I know, pokin some fun at ya....
I do hope things will turn out the way you plan on them to, and that your not to mad at the recruiter for telling you that this is all stuff you can do.
What do you do in your downtime OTR?

Hey, now...it's only what, 12,600 miles/month starting out that he'd have to get paid to drive to earn that much? ...and he's been doing nearly twice that for the past 8 years, so it oughtta be a piece of cake.
-
Actually, don't forget that USA truck pays practical miles. So 12,600 paid miles is probably closer to 13,000 actual hub miles.
As for the conditions out on the road now, I wouldn't know how well freight is moving at the beginner outfits. I have been off the road since '09
Not gonna lie, I do miss it from time to time, but then I remember the bad days and staying away from home for 3 months at a time.
Oh ya, and the food.

Haven't been out yet. But i have an android that can be used as a hotspot so I'll have to wait and see if that works.

Longest I ever stayed out was the 3 weeks. Even when I first started out, I was done with my training, issued a truck, and was headed past the house with a load in 3 weeks. Several years later, I worked for a company where I'd stay out 2-3 weeks at a time....paced myself so I'd never run out of hours and spent a lot of time running the wide open spaces through the western states.
I like being home, though, so these days that's where I am to take my break just about every day. -
The main reason I stayed out for so long was because I kept getting temped into dedicated runs, and I stayed as long as possible because it was awesome money and work. I spent almost half of my year OTR on a wal-mart account in Tomah, WI. At that time, temps had a guaranteed pay of $800 a week, but it was only supposed to be a two week job. Usually surpassed that though because of the stop pay back when it was still escalating. $25 for the first, $50 for the second, and $75 for each one after the second. Some loads had 5 stops on them and you could do a round trip in a day. I got lucky though because I got chosen at random because of where I was when I MTd, and dispatch there kept me around. Even routed me home once and brought me back on their boards.
So I suppose it is possible for the OP to make that kind of money starting out, but not likely. Like I said I just got real lucky. After the WM, I spent a few months in Ardmore, OK running dollar general as a temp as well.
With a lot of hard work and the right attitude, it could be possible. Just not likely. Not going to be playing golf or riding scooters while out on the road though.Last edited: May 18, 2011

I feel inclined to note that May is (In the good old US of A) national masturbation month. Take that in whichever direction you want, but I believe my intent is obvious.
