One of the instructors at my school had 4,000,000 miles(before teaching) and he has been driving for 42 years. Do the math

c'mon now, you know spare time...???? it goes along with, paid holidays, paid vacations, paid over time, paid double over time, paid sick pay, personal leave pay, maternity pay, my arse hurts pay.......
-
Same as my uncle in MN...4+ million miles, been at it 40yrs or more...
-
2,000,000 in 8 years
Driving 12 hours per day, that 35,040 hours of driving in 8 years, averaging 57.08 MPH.
OR
684.93 miles per day, including holidays, every day, averaging 57.08 MPH.
To skip days of driving, like holidays or any time at home, the average speed would have to be greatly increased. The only way to level the equation would be to drive longer than 12 hours each day at speeds of over 60 mph. Unrealistic in my book.Last edited: May 18, 2011

This thread I think has ran its course, lol. With some one talking about how they will spend their 10hr downtime to people suggesting to lease / buy a truck. I have enjoyed this thread, but I shall no longer keep reading it. Good luck to the OP with his downtime.

Good luck to the OP for making $2900 a month at usa truck.

I really wish it was that easy. A shower WILL WILL take you longer than one minute. If you are trying to shower in the early afternoon until 10 at night, you are going to be waiting in line for your turn. Logs (if paper logs) will probably take you a lot longer than 2 minutes.
Most drivers do, but that is still not going to make it as fast as you might think it will.
I truly hope it's as easy as you think it is. My experience with cruises (been on several of them) tells me that it's not that easy to book a cruise last minute, especially when all of the cabins are booked up months in advance. And changing plans (cancelling a 7 day cruise to find a 5 day cruise) if possible at all, will cost you several thousands in fees and lost money. Good luck buying a last minute ticket to Hawaii. That will bankrupt the average bear or leave you nothing to rent a hotel room with in Hawaii (have you been in a Hotel in Hawaii lately? Know what they cost nowadays?).
There are? Where?
Not saying you are wrong, but man, that would be great to find on a regular basis!
I hope you have fun out there! I think I had the same ideas when I started driving a few years ago and was blindsided by reality. Unfortunately, it's not a pleasure drive. It's long hours, without a lot of pay, sometimes wasted time sitting in a shippers lot waiting to get a dock door, getting halfway there with a load before they pull it off you and give you something else (that will make you homicidal, trust me), rainy or snowy days where going out to "play" is impossible, fending off toothless fat bloated disgusting lot lizards and drunks in the truckstop, etc.....
But if you manage to be able to get a 34 reset, grab a cab and have fun! Trust me on this.... you are going to have a very difficult time trying to go see a movie, golf, or sightseeing during your 10 hour break.
Checkout BigRigSteve's website. He takes some time off and visits friends every month or so if he happens to be in an area where his subscribers are. He's a very accomplished photographer so his off time is spent wandering around in the hillls or in small towns if he happens to be near a place where he can get great shots. But when he runs, he deals with the same BS that all drivers do. Kind of hard to predict what you are going to do tomorrow when load planners and dispatchers cant find their ### with both hands. -
I'm absolutely positive that many MANY millions of Americans are "taking part" to celebrate that right now as we speak.
-
All Right! I have a good excuse for once.... for a whole month! Hey why didn't ya tell me May1st ?
-
Wait a minute....

We're supposed to have an "excuse" for that sorta activity?
