I'm sure he's figured it out by now, this thread was 6 years old when you resurrected it.

I normally go running to stay healthy or take a walk. Depending where I am I will call a Lyft and do something in the community.

Its well worth your time and health to get away from the truck, even if its for an hour or two.

OP was totally unrealistic in his thinking (guess that's why he disappeared).

I've played plenty of golf while OTR. For example, one time my load at Anheuser-Busch in Fort Collins, CO was postponed until the following day, leaving me with the rest of the day off. So I drove to the golf course right around the corner, less than a mile away, and played 18 holes. It can definitely be done if you're motivated and bring your clubs with you. I used to play all the time on 34-hour resets.

Huh? ...you drove "Your Truck" to the Golf Course?

They don't allow Trucks at the courses down here man...not sure about Fort Collins. What year was this?

I was usually (but not always) bobtail when I golfed. Many times I was on a reset at a company terminal, so I could drop my trailer and bobtail to the golf course. At Fort Collins though, I had already dropped my empty at the brewery when I found out the loaded trailer wouldn't be ready until the next day. So I bobtailed out of the brewery and over to the golf course. Another time, I played at Wildhorse in Pendleton, OR which does have truck parking. There's a course off I-15 in southern Utah, which has a huge dirt parking lot and I parked my full rig and played there as well. If you keep an eye out, you'd be surprised how many golf courses you can park a truck at or near.

No, not on the road. I'm not going to leave my truck unattended long at all unless it's at one of our yards. While I'm doing my 2 week stint, I'm in the truck. My life does not extend beyond the truck while I'm responsible for it. But once I park it at the local truck stop and go home, that's my time. I do what I want.

Movies, restaurants, tours, and of course exercise on my 34hr break.

I try to get a hotel room when possible.

A nice tweed Carvin 5/15 watt tube amp, and an Ibanez Jem 7VW. Or the ukulele!
