Cut phone lines. Pull Cell battery. Dispatch and company is not involved in my life until exactly 4 hours before I have to be at the yard. (Im two or three hours from Memphis for example. Or less than that from Little Rock)

Sleep like cave bear first day. I do not talk to wife or anything until I have gotten that sleep sorted. Then cook and eat. Once I put fork down then Wife gets to love on me hug me kiss me and then tell me 50 different honey dos.

I don't care about the truck see the truck or nothing. It can burn. If for some stupid miracle dispatch got a hold of my wife who passed the phone to me? I tell them what part of home dont you understand and then hung up. They have a thousand dweebs to solve whatever the problem is.

Activites range quite a bit. Anything and everything except trucking. Bowling first. Grab wife and go dinners. Do all the honey do jobs. When she is purring, I beach myself on the sofa or recliner and just sleep. Its not pretty that hometime.

4 hours prior to yard time I get moving. Get the obligatory yer late yelling out of the way from dispatch when they wind down I say what part of home dont you understand? A few applications of that usually burns em out on that abuse. I just refuse to be abused like a gawky kid without a class schedule on day one of school. Sorry. Thats not me.

Life is interesting sometimes. Morale is usually good after a month because it will be another 4 or 6 before I get back through long enough to cavebear sleep again.

You guys are either single, young, or newly weds. After 10,12,15 years or so, you learn not to go home with more than 24 hours off duty time.
She who wont be named, always has a honey do list planned and waiting.
I used to go home and take 4 or 5 days off. But then I became a handy man, painter, carpet installer, plumber, electrician, or landscaper.

Last time home i asked, doesnt your boy friend no how to do anything but sex and eat?
I didnt get any pudding that trip home. For punishment she gave me the silent treatment.

So I had to watch football all day all by myself

Besides spending time with family, just sit on the back porch and relax and do absolutely nothing

in my earlier years, when i got home, the wife wanted for us to go out for dinner, movies and such.

i can see that, she had a job as well as taking care of the house and kids, and wanted "time off" for herself and me.

problem however, i was tired of "eating out" and watching movies, and i wanted to stay home, eat really good home cooked foods, and take care of the things that needed to be done at the house.

but 1.5 to 2 days off, maybe a 3rd day, and back on the road.

so there was never any real time for myself, to wind down.

getting off the road was way better to me and the family than to be "making sure my money was stacking up right"

there are other things in life to "stack up", that money can never buy.
