oversize sweatpants with greasy hamburger stains for the full effect.

 

I wear sneakers most of the time, but I carry a set of steel-toed boots for rough weather and winter time. It couldn't hurt to own both.

 

I keep a couple pairs of gloves, one strictly for fueling that I replace every other week or so because after awhile they start to become in affective as the fuel leaks through and a nicer type of glove with grips incase I lump a load etc etc...

I think while in school just fueling gloves should do the trick...

Is your schooling through a trucking company or an independent school?

 

Tennis shoes in summer. Cowboy boots in winter. Always carry a pair of steel toes cause some shippers will require you to have them. I also had a pair of slippers to lounge in truck. Floor of truck could be really hot or cold

 

Me I wear a hiking boot year round.

 

If you are throwing out fueling gloves that often why not get latex/neoprene disposables? It's cheaper. 50 pairs for a couple bucks works pretty well for me.

Op, I almost always wear steel toe boots. I'm just used to them and I don't need to change footwear when I get to a shipper or receiver. You wear what's comfortable, but own some boots before you get a job if possible. Gloves for loading, unloading, securement, pretrips, etc, depending on where and what you drive.

Why don't you call the school and ask what you need to bring? More than likely they will say nothing more than closed toe shoes.
